NOTD: Barry M 'Prickly Pear' and L'Oreal 'Confettis'

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

Hey everyone, today I wanted to show you guys two nail polishes: 'Prickly Pear' by Barry M and the 'Confettis' top coat by L'Oreal. I've heard a lot of great thing about the Barry M Hi-shine Gelly polishes so I was very excited to find this color on Asos. I'd like to try out 'lychee' as well, it looks like the perfect beige color.

3 coats of 'prickly pear' (smudge alert, sorry for that), two coats of 'Confettis'

Prickly Pear is a beautiful lavander color. I like the shine and color, but I had a bit of trouble making this opaque. My right hand was perfectly opaque after 2 coats, but I needed 3 coats for my left hand. It dried very quick, which is something that I really enjoyed. I like this polish!

Confettis is an awesome top coat. It has different sizes of black and white glitters, which can spice up any nail color. I have worn this a few times, I think it looks great over red and light colors. I usually put one layer on top of all my nails, but because I decided to only put it on my ringfinger as an accent nail, I painted 2 coats on.

Have you tried this line of nail polishes? Do you like it?

Goodbye GFC, Hello Bloglovin!

Saturday, June 22, 2013

As a lot of you may already know, Google had decided to stop with Google Friend Connect. I don't know why, but I'm not a fan of this decision. GFC was a fun way to get to know new blogs and follow them. This way you guys were up to date about my new blogposts, but I could also follow many many great blogs!

Luckily, there is still an easy way to follow my blog: Bloglovin. On this site, you can follow every blog there is and you can easily see all the new posts that your favorite bloggers have written. I suggest that you guys, if you're interested in my blog, follow me on bloglovin as well. You can do this by clicking here.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Summer vacation is ALMOST here!

Fashion Wishlist June 2013

Thursday, June 13, 2013

My exams at school are almost completely over, and that means it's time to go... Shopping! Next week, I'm going shopping with my mom in the fabulous Nieuwstraat in Brussels. I'm also going to Antwerp, for some stores that they don't have in Brussels. I can't help but go on websites for a sneakpeak during a little studybreak. Some things have caught my eye and I want to share these with you guys!

1. Zara Polka Dot Skirt I saw this skirt in the Zara of Ghent and I fell in love with it. They have a mandarin color (see photo) and a mint color. My preference goes out to the mint one, but they didn't have that one on the website.

2. Vero Moda Pearl Lace Dress Summer is finally really coming to Belgium so it's time to take out our cute dresses! I saw this dress on the Vero Moda site and it's just so beautiful!

3. Zara Nude Heels I've been looking for months to find a good pair of nude heels. They are either to high or not comfortable enough.

4. New Look Black Leather Bow Flats: New Look always has the cutest shoes. I have shoe size 41-42, so finding shoes is not the most easy thing for me. But in New Look, they usually have 42. (Funny thing; they have discontinued shoesize 41 in New Look. They just don't sell it anymore. That's so weird, right?)

5. Knuckle Rings (found this photo on Etsy): I always wanted to try out knuckle rings and they are finally available in a few stores here in Belgium.

6.New Look Black/Cream Bow Bag Not only do they have cute shoes, they also have supercute bags! This one immediately caught my eyes when I was browsing trough the bags. When I see a bag with a bow on it, I'm sold!

7. Forever 21 Retro Bow Studs
I don't like forever 21 a lot. Their clother never look good on me. BUT when I go, I always get a lot of their jewelry. They are so cute and are very inexpensive. My friends go look at the clothes and I just go to the jewelry section immediately. These are bow earrings. Enough said ;)

8. Black Blazer: I love blazers but I still haven't found the perfect black blazer. I'm going to look in stores to see if I can find one.

9. Vero Moda Bow Skirt Aaaaand another bow. Am I obsessed? This skirt is just too cute to say no to.

What's on your fashion wish list this month?
What have you bought recently?

Nail of the Day: O.P.I. Honeyrider (Liquid Sand) Swatches and Review!

Monday, June 3, 2013

Hey girls! Today I wanted to show you a very interesting nail polish from O.P.I.: Honeyrider. This is from the Bond Girls collection that recently came out. It's a collection of 6 'Liquid Sand' polishes and they all portray a famous Bond Girl. I was looking at the collection in the store and this one immediately caught my eye.

The Liquid Sand polishes are matte, textured polishes. They are very glittery, which make it interesting, since they are matte. I like it a lot. It feels like you have sand on your nails. I personally don't mind that, but some people might not like that feeling.

The color is so beautiful and the polish applied like a dream: two coats were enough to make it perfect! You don't want to put a top coat over this, it'll ruin the matte effect.

What do you think of textured nail polishes?

The End of Project Pan: Empties + My Experience!

Hey everyone! June has started and that means my Project Pan is now officially over! After 6 months of trying to buy no beauty products, I'm now 'free' to buy makeup again! In this post I want to show you guys what I used up in may and tell you guys a few things I learned after this project!

In May, I used up 5 things (and discovered one empty shampoo bottle that has been standing in my shower for months now). A shampoo, a travel size deodorant and two mascaras. I'm so glad to be able to toss a few mascaras out.

1. Nivea Straight&Gloss Shampoo: One of these is not really an empty from May, as it is empty since October, I think. I just always forgot to get rid of it. This is my favorite shampoo, I always repurchase this again and again. It makes my hair soft and easy to work with.

2. Fa Cream&Oil Silk&Magnolia Shower Gel: smooth and creamy shower gel. This smelled good and was moisturizing. It didn't dry out my skin. What more do we want?

3. Rexona Crystal Clear Aqua Deodorant: I didn't like this. I'm happy it was just a travel size, because it was not good. The smell was okay, but this left so many white marks on my clothing. And those are not easy to get out! This irritates me because Rexona is a brand that always claims to have 0% white marks when you use it. It even says on the bottle that you can use this and have no white marks on dark clothing. Even after shaking it, white stuff appears everywhere. Repurchase? Never.

4. Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara: The first few times I used this, I was not a fan. But after a while this became one of my favorite mascaras. It seperates and lenghtens the lashes, it's so beautiful. I'm not sure if I will repurchase this anytime soon, but I liked it.

5. Benefit They're Real Mascara: A lot of people have raved about this mascara and I have to agree: It's pretty good! I won't say it makes my lashes look like false lashes, but it adds length, volume AND seperation. If you ever want to buy a high end mascara but you don't know which one, I recommend this one!

Using up products really takes a lot of time. I've used up a lot less than I would've wanted. I used up 14 products in total. Especially makeup takes a long time. But I have tossed a lot of stuff that was really old and I was able to completely change and rearrange my makeup setup. It's better now. I also sold some nail polishes to friends, which was a win-win situation (they got new nail polish for a small price and I reduced my collection and earned a bit of money).

The project went with up and downs, a lot of great products came out recently and I had to really make sure not to buy them (Yes, Rimmel Apocalypse Lipsticks, I'm talking to you!) but I can finally try them out now. I learned to control myself a bit more, I don't feel the need to just go out and buy a product anymore. I'll only buy them if I really want to try them out, if I really like them or if I actually need them. I'm a bit more wise when it comes to makeup now. If I want something, I'll also check out reviews first before I go buy it.

Project Pan was a very interesting, hard but fun thing to do. I might do it again once.

Have a nice day everybody!

Astrid
